Space exploration has continually fascinated me. For this project, I collected images of iconic spacecraft and events in NASA history. A mix of photography and concept artwork from various NASA eras, these images served as the basis for my subsequent digital line-art sketches. During the moodboard process, I concepted the idea of the company name: "Interplanetary Brewing Co."
After curating my moodboard, I started these digital sketches in Procreate. My line art idea drew inspiration from the design of Fort Point Brewing's branding scheme. A mix of tracing and freehand work, my goal was to capture the essence of each vehicle/image, simplifying where possible.
The first iteration of my can design established the logo and most of the final composition, but felt too monochrome. In the second iteration, I added color, but found it overbearing when it colored the whole line art of the rover. In the final design, I established a balance between color and simplicity by only coloring the lower banner.
Once the final composition and branding was completed, I iterated the design into 3 different brews: Martian Stout, Apollo Ale, and Voyager IPA. Each kept the same design language and branding, distinguishing themselves with color and alternate illustration. From these designs, I concepted an outdoor advertising campaign, using ChatGPT to assist with brainstorming taglines/headlines.
